The test is the institution, not the funding or the intent. Degree-awarding institutions qualify. Research institutes that award no degrees do not, even when the work is pure research and the output is a paper.

Is this a trial that expires?
No. There is no time limit and no feature gate on the science. It is the full analytical platform, free, for as long as you are at a qualifying institution. Once a year we will ask you to confirm that you still are.
We are a public research institute. Do we qualify?
No. Public and government research institutes, national laboratories and their equivalents all need a commercial plan, even for pure research published in the open literature. It is the institution that decides, not the work. Get in touch and we will scope it by team size.
Do I need an institutional email address?
It is the simplest way for us to confirm eligibility, so yes, please register with one.
Can I publish results produced with the Community plan?
Yes, and please cite it.
What happens if our university lab starts doing commercial service work?
Then that work needs a commercial plan. Get in touch and we will scope it by team size.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. mzmine runs entirely on your own hardware. There is no cloud component in any plan.
